I especially enjoyed this book for the great photographs. As an amateur gardener (emphasis on the amateur), I am inspired by the design of gardens. The terrific photo essays on a number of stellar gardens gave me some great ideas for my own garden. And the close-up shots of numerous plants are an excellent reference. This is a very useful book for both amateurs and more serious gardeners.
I really like the way this book is set up -- very logical and organized, which I need, lol. It addresses the basics, and the true foundations of a great northern garden (which is essential) before getting into more specifics. I found the excellent photography really useful to me, allowing me to see possibilities in combinations and settings as well as how each plant looks by itself. I highly recommend it!
I can hardly call myself a gardener, but this book has expanded my knowledge and set me on the path. As a transplanted southerner, I never quite made friends with the array of plants in the northeast and this lovely book has been quite helpful. Great photos!
