It is a handsome publication, carefully and tastefully presented. One thing that becomes clear is the variation in length and details of actions that were rewarded with awards. Some pieces are spare and sparse with little description; others are vivid and truly impressive. But behind it all is the astonishing bravery exhibited by people, volunteers, who cared whether those at sea and in danger of death, lived or died.The cost of my copy was a real bargain. The cost of postage from the USA to Ireland was an expensive bummer, but I don't regret anything about the purchase, because the book arrived very quickly after being ordered.
