Hard to understand unless one is a dyed-in-the-wool collector and extremely knowledgeable about paper money.I have a few silver certificates and older paper which Pop had saved. I am down-sizing, and wanted to see what they were worth, other than face value. Organization here and definitions are not clear.Once upon a time, I also had full and half sheets of dollars from maybe 20 years ago when the govt was selling them in a paper frame. I bought a few for fun and gave a couple as gifts. I don't have them anymore, but DO remember themNOTE: this book is in error when it talks about full uncut sheets...says that only some were made and they are very rare AND of a different date and size than those which I had...totally WRONG WRONG WRONG. Thus, even if I could understand the rest of this book, I would not trust it!! BTW, the uncut sheets are in a separate section, so there is no mistaking the text as written,I don't like or trust this book. Too cheap to return, but would not buy it again. Will have to find another source for my purposes.

Dear ReaderI think this is a wonderful reference tool for anyone with a general interest in United States paper money and expecially for any beginning collector of Federal Notes. This little book is chock full of information about paper money in general and it also includes a PCDA contact list. It covers all the different Types of US currency (Large & Small) and also the Fractional issues.Included in the work is a section that provides an overview of some of the different types of obsolete currency available to collectors. There is also a section listing all the Confederate States of America Treasury Notes by Criswell Type Numbers.I would like to disclose that I am a dealer of Obsolete Paper Money and I contributed to the Confederate States of America chapter.Best RegardsW. Crutchfield Williams, II.aka Col Crutch Williams CSAANA LM1543, SPMC LM25, PCDA

I did not know how many kinds of Notes our government has issued. I am not sure it is a guide or a history book. Only problem is that every year, it has to be updated but that is the nature of collecting and curiosity.

Three Stars because it is a paperback and I was not careful in my interpretation of the description when I ordered the book. It however is very helpful and I only have a limited amount of "Paper" money that I needed to grade...

Not a big paper money collector, but there are a few I would like to collect someday. This book tells how paper money is graded and what to look for if the bill has been 'repaired'. Plan to take it with me to collector trade shows.

Although its listed as 2014, it does not list each and every US bill since USA inception. There are large gaps between series. With the Redbook out there, you can't hold a candle up to this with it.

I was all that I needed for the over 200 bills dating back to 1892. Good book. If you want to know what you money is really worth this is the book.

If you collect paper money this is a good book to get. I got one for my husband for Christmas and he's been perusing it ever since.
