This is not a book, it's an instructional pamphlet for the Clover Bead Loom, featuring a few uninspired projects. If you are new to beading on a loom, look elsewhere for instruction. This one is not worth your money!
Don't be fooled by the size of this book--it contains info about materials and supplies, the basics of a Clover loom, 2 ways of warping a loom, increasing and decreasing, lots of additional instructions,11 projects to try, and two pages of Toho bead charts. I'm not crazy about most bead weaving projects (I'm an off-loom weaver so far), but I get loads of ideas from them, and these are no exception. I bought an inexpensive loom (BeadSmith's Bead Loom Kit for Beginners) to see if I was interested, and I received this book before the loom. I think the book is very well written, the photos are beautiful, the drawings are easy to see and very instructional. I was able to apply most of the loom instructions to the use of my loom, even tho' it is much less complicated (fewer moving parts!) than the Clover loom. I'm putting the Clover on my wish list now.I don't think it's fair to give a book a negative review just because it doesn't meet your particular needs or expectations. This is a good book in my opinion; perhaps those of you who are disappointed bought the wrong book. I figure I lucked out with very little investment.
this is a very nice book with loads of great tutorials. easy to follow. I am a beginner at bead weaving, so i need all the help i can get & this book does it.
the patterns are nice but this book is not for someone just starting out with zero knowledge of loom beading. there is no reference as to which thread is best suited for which bead and what needles to buy.disappointed in this book.
I was kind of hesitant being a novice, but I am glad that I got it! Easy to follow colorful and beautiful patterns! Would definitely recommend!
The book is very thin with hardly any pages,not enough designs in it and not descriptive enough. I wish I hadn't bought it. Beth
This book is absolutely amazingly horrible. Like really.Dude, I didn't realize how freakishly thin this book was going to be, first of all. I mean, yeah, it said it was gonna have 11 designs, but really now, this is thinner than a kids' composition notebook with just 26 pages. TWENTY SIX PAGES. One consumer mentioned that it was like a pamphlet, and I definitely have to agree.Half the book is just describing how to use the Clover loom, AKA a loom I don't even own (the ones I have aren't even close to the structure of that thing), making the majority of the book useless to me. I should have gone deeper into the reviews myself, but honestly, I had been looking forward to getting this book for a long, LONG time, and am now extremely disappointed. What vague diagrams and instructions they do have in the book are placed randomly and haphazardly as it gets, making it a pain to go through. Maybe 4 out of the 11 projects I could see myself doing. The rest are either unattractive or don't take much to just come up with it on your own. (One design was of a plain silver bracelet with a thin blue stripe in it. No complexity and a waste of space that could have been used to teach me a design I couldn't create on my own).The pictures are kind of nice, but I couldn't help but notice a bunch of threads sticking out or showing up in a few of the projects. So not even the photos could make up for the poor value. These are supposedly professional photographs? Regardless of the lighting and the position of the bracelet, I can still see your POORLY WEAVED WARP THREADS IN RANDOM PLACES IN YOUR PLAIN SILVER BRACELET.Pick something else, guys. Don't pay 9 dollars on something worth less than 2.
I have been doing loom bead waving for a few years now and have had much difficulty in finishing the ends plus I didn't know how to do increasing or decreasing of beads. I've tried everything from glue to tying the individual end threads which is tedious and never seemed secure. I purchased several books on bead weaving which were great for various patterns but never showed how to finish the ends. I found this book to be the answer on how to finish the bead ends. So simple, can't believe that I never thought of it. For someone who has never done beading weaving on a loom this is also an excellent book to begin with.
