This book is absolutely a must-read for all .NET developers! Too many .NET developers assume that the Garbage Collector will take care of everything and that the developer has no responsibility or concerns about their application's memory usage. This book starts out with easy explanations and examples and builds up to more complex ones so that the concepts can be easily understood.I'll recommend this book to everyone within my organization - you should consider this too.
This book offers a good overview of how a .NET Developers' code utilizes memory and affects Garbage Collection (GC). It points out differences between The Stack and The Heap (both SOH and LOH) as well as the differences between how an application uses memory in a 32 bit OS as opposed to a 64 bit OS among other things. This book offers a great in-depth look into .NET Memory Management and Garbage Collection. This is definitely for more advanced developers.
After you understand the basic for, while, and class constructs, you should read this book to understand the effects of the coding decisions you make in all of your .NET coding. This book is easy to read and understand the concepts of memory management in your application. Every small decision you make has consequences, and this book tells you about them.
Very well-written and well-structured book. This should be required reading for anyone looking to write code for the .NET platform. A must-have !
