Trying to bring back a half acre of lawn is no easy task. This book helped to understand what had happened and how to fix it. After we had a large irrigation system installed it gave insight into proper watering. Before I was not doing it right. I hired a professional lawn chemistry company to take care of things the book talked about... such as crane fly, fertilizers, lime etc. I use a riding John Deere and bought from a Thatcher and a piercing roller attachment and followed the books instructions. I learned that getting a beautiful lawn is an all year project. By hiring a professional company it was actually less expensive for me than doing it myself. Now I just mow, which I love to do, in my green and yellow John Deere with my pink John Deere hat I also bought from .
Great information for anyone that is serious about their lawn. Much detail about different types of grass, how and why they grow best and in what regions. How to properly fertilize and how to figure it out yourself as to how much to apply. How to properly water for different soil types. Huge section on diseases and how to prevent / cure. Highly recommend.
my husband and I own a NaturaLawn franchise, a lawncare company that specializes in using organic-based fertilizer and other environmentally-responsible materials to manage weeds and help people have healthy, great-looking lawns. Over the past year I have become more involved in the business, so I read this book to better educate myself about all that's involved in lawn care - types of grasses, proper cultural practices, weeds, disease and pest issues, and aeration & seeding. The book is very informative and thorough, well-written and even entertaining in places. We recently acquired a second (used) copy of the book to give employees to read.
great book. This book made me clear & confident on do's and don 'ts. I know how much to expect on my inputs. I no longer have vague doubts. Wish I make it to reading this book at least one more time.
