Excellent book for woodworkers of all capabilities! Further, the book is not all for power tool users nor is it just for handtool users: it is an excellent book of tips for all! My experience and time goes back four decades and yet I found many items in this book that I have never heard of before. I also saw a few tips that I saw years ago, but have forgotten.Get this book as the cost is money better spent than the cost of subscribing to a magazine that rehashes scrap that already has been talked about for ever (and also paying for ads).
I think the title of this review pretty much sums it all. This book is the best resource I have ever seen to woodworking, even having YouTube doesn't make up for all the tips that this book includes. Simply amazing.
Good read great tips. Highly recommend for new woodworkers.Always review before I start odd projects. Have used many of the tips.
There is just an endless source of helpful tips for a multitude of wood working projects. This book is always just an arms length away to help with ideas for woodworking success.
This was actually bought as a gift for my father. I'm reviewing it though because he has told me a dozen and one times how incredible of a book it is. He is very into Woodworking and very talented! So far all he has done is make furniture and stuff for my mom, his kids and our church (he built a shabby chic wall out of reclaimed wood that is to die for!).He says that this book is a must have! It walks you through various woodworking skills (cannot give more detail as I know very little about woodworking) but the greatest advantage of this book is, the tips. He said that they are everywhere and they are things that really do create better items but also make it easier or even faster. He spends all of his free-time watching woodworking videos and reading books but he said that this book has things he has never even seen before! Even some of his friends have gone out and bought the book for themselves.I know he is telling the truth and not just trying to make me feel good about the present because this is the book he looks at and has in his shop with him.
The content is thorough categorized, well written, and well organized. It's about as complete and well illustrated a book of hints , tips, tricks, & workarounds as I've seen in fifty five years of woodworking. Not a five 'cause it contained some contradictory information - poor editing. Hand & powered techniques all focus on common (or perhaps not so common) sense approaches without trying to sell expensive solutions for simple or one time problems.
This was a gift for a fellow who just built a shop to work on his boats. He is always looking for faster, safer, easier methods to do what he needs to do. This book fit the bill. He has been very pleased with the suggestions and has already used some in the organization of his shop. Highly Recommended!!!
This was one of the first books I bought when I got interested in woodworking. Five years or so later, there are three bookcases filled with woodworking books, at my house. I have referred to Woodworking Tips many, many times. It is probably the book I've used the most for handy tips. I especially like the tip on the cover, but there are so many more that I have bookmarked. There are 18 ideas that are immediately applicable to my needs. As I flip through the pages I see ideas I skipped before. As I gain experience, I see more projects I should find time to make. I have so many woodworking books, but this one is one of my top 5. Beginners can't go wrong, with this book, and no matter how experienced you are, I bet you'll find it helpful.
