I was looking for a book that would give me real solutions to internet privacy. This guide is for complete newbies. The thing I didn't like about the book was the fact that it was very broad in each category and it didn't provide or give any example websites to use. It tells you in a broad and obvious sense on what to do but not at all on how to do it (alternatives). Example, he says using popular email servers like Google are not the best for privacy. He does not give any alternatives to the mainstream emails. He does the same for all the chapters. Overall, I am disappointed and I didn't learn anything new. You could find better information yourself and save time by looking the topic up on the internet.
Actually, this was a great place to start for me. I know something things, but some things I did not know. In addition to this book, I would also include The Smart Girl's Guide to Privacy: Practical Tips for Staying Safe Online by Violet Blue. I think Mr. Simmons did a wonderful job with the book, Its a short read, but I think it was good for me.
Great insight into the why you need to be aware of the ways your information can be acquired and used by criminals to ruin your life. Also includes methods to make identity theft very difficult.
This should all be pretty common sense by this day and age, but they are solid points none the less.
