The young author (now 11 years old) has shared a straightforward and sensitive narrative of an experience no one likes to have. In addition, the beautifully detailed illustrations capture the story and players well. I have shared this book with children who can't believe that a child about their age really wrote a children's book.
What a wonderful book! Totally put my daughter and our family at ease on a tricky subject. We are so thankful the author had the vision to put her experience into words that both children and adults could appreciate. A great book for anyone either dealing with lice or who just to learn more on the subject. My wife is buying a second copy for her pediatrics office.
Natalie's Lice Aren't Nice but her book sure is! A comforting story that, in the end tells every child what they need to hear--everything will be ok. Natalie takes a lot of the "ick" factor out of dealing with head lice. This is the book you want to have before the exposure notice comes home!
As a parent and teacher I found this story very informative and presented in a sensitive and greatly illustrated format. This is a story for everyone.
Kids can relate to this book that was written by a kid. Her innocent writing style is a comforting voice for a child dealing with lice. Natalie tells her own story with darling illustrations, explaining both the good and bad things about having lice. Kids are only going to hear the hard stuff from the school nurse. Natalie's book will teach them that they can find good in a bad situation.In addition to the darling narrative, the book gives a list of practical advice and resources for preventing and treating lice. This is a must have for any school nurse's office and/or library, and a great gift for a family dealing with nits.
This is a wonderful books written from a child's perspective. In addition to giving us useful information about how to avoid and treat lice, Natalie tells us how she delt with the "feelings" part of having lice. Getting rid of the bugs was only half the battle. She did the courageous thing and told her friends and found out that "my friends are still my friends" and "my moms friends are still her friends". My kids loved both the sweet story and beautiful illustrations.
