There are 15 chapters that cover:1 tools2 materials3 building different styles of houses4 finishing everything outside, including gardens, fences, roofs & windows5 inside finishing including fireplaces, and stairs, etc.6 Electrifying the house7 Wood crafted furnishings & decor8 Furniture9 Metal crafts10 Needle crafts11 paper crafts12 bead crafts13 Accessory crafts14 Christmas15 Renovating and housekeepingThere are tons of full sized patterns, diagrams and pictures to follow to completely build and furnish doll houses! I can't wait to get started. The book is a bit dated but that's easily overlooked when you consider what a treasure this book truly is!I highly recommend it!
If you would rather build than buy a dollhouse, this is a great book. So much information! Tools, materials, the different styles of houses, and how to build small, medium or large houses complete with diagrams, blueprints, measurements, and even some furniture and accessories. They even have some murals you can copy and paste or trace onto an interior wall. Lots of examples and even has instructions on how to electrify your doll house.
This book was definitely written a while ago, but the dollhouse plans in it are timeless. I was able to tweak the plans for one of the dollhouses, and now have my own custom design. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the directions for the house that I'm building were not clear in some ways. I feel like the author relayed the majority of the instructions for each house, but didn't quite give out all the details I would have liked. It's definitely worth it however, especially if you are wanting a starting point when designing and building your own dollhouse.
The pictures and information in the book is very useful for building dolls housesThe ideas are great for making things for the house as well
I have owned this book since the 1970's and I love it. I have made many of the items in the book over the years and they have all turned out wonderful. I would recommend this book to any miniaturist. Loads of inspiration too.
Pictures in book are not very clear. Not really very clearly written.
