The World Record Paper Airplane Book

It’s the classic, world’s bestselling paper airplane book, grounded in the aerodynamics of paper and abounding with fun. The World Record Paper Airplane Book raises paper airplane making to a unique, unexpected art. This new edition boasts four brand-new models: Stiletto, Spitfire, Galactica, and Sting Ray. Added to its hangar of proven fliers—including Valkyrie, Hammerhead, Vortex, Condor, Pterodactyl, and, of course, the famous World Record Paper Airplane—that makes twenty airworthy designs. Each is swathed in all-new, attention-grabbing graphics and is ready to tear out, fold, and fly. There are at least five models for each design and all-important instructions for how to adjust and throw each plane for best flight. But the planes are just the beginning. The book features tons of cool information on aerodynamics, competitions, and designing your own high-performing models. Readers will learn why paper airplanes fly (and why they crash), the history of Ken Blackburn’s world record, and how to organize and win contests. Also included is a flight log and pull-out runway for practicing accuracy.

This book was the best gift my son received for Christmas--far surpassed any toy, and it entertained him his whole school break. He loves paper airplanes, and the author of this book gives a delightful account of his lifelong love of paper airplanes. He gives three copies of each airplane, so when you rip one or even two, you still have another! They fly, are fun, and are easy to fold. We will be giving this book to others as a gift for years to come!

We gave this book to our grand kids. They got a kick out of it, and it works for a range of ages. The 14-year old immediately started reading the theory then moved on to making the space shuttle. The youngest made the box-wing airplane (with a little help) and was pleased that his flew farther than his older brother's space shuttle. It is really nice that it has multiple copies of each model printed on tear-out sheets (especially good for us, since it has 4 copies, and we have 4 grand kids in that family).

I think we own every one of these books, and we love them. My 5-yr-old son can do most of them on his own. We've been buying them for birthday gifts for everyone and they are a big hit.

This book is really well written and simple. It explains basic paper plane aerodynamics and comes with all the necessary materials to make 20 different plane models. This is honestly such a great gift idea for a young child and probably any adult who likes these sorts of activities. I bought this who my boyfriend who is trying to become a pilot. I thought this would be a fun date activity to do together. I remember building paper planes in a few of my science classes in high school, so building a few together is a bit nostalgic for me.I bought this in conjunction with the PowerUp 3.0 smartphone Controlled Paper airplane. I'm not sure yet if the plane templates will work together but I'll give it a shot in a couple of weeks when I give it to him. I haven't built any planes yet, but it really doesn't look complicated. They have step-by-step fold instructions and all the folds are labeled by numbers. I also like that the paper included is thicker than your traditional copy paper and it's printed with cool designs on both sides.

This is a great book. Some of the instructions were somewhat vague and the lines might not have worked out quite right but the truth is my oldest kids - and they are young, amost 6 and 7- had a blast with these. Defiantely recommend for families that homeschool and just kids period. Great for quite time and projects

My 6 year old considers himself a paper airplane making expert so he was very excited to get this book.Pros:1. Exciting, colorful paper airplanes (if you can manage to make them).2. Directions are clear and easy enough for my 6 year old to follow.Cons:1. Some of the perforated edges cut into the design destroying the plane before you even try to remove the paper from the book.2. It's nearly impossible to remove the pages from the book without ripping (and thus destroying) the paper airplane before you even start. Part of this is due to Con #1 (stated above) and part of it is due to the poor function of the perforated edges.3. In some of the designs, the lines on the front of the design do not match the lines on the back of the design. So, there is some guesswork required in figuring out where to fold and cut.Of note:1. There are 20 different designs for you to make with a few copies of each design. This comes in handy when you rip a tiny piece of the page while carefully trying to remove it from the book. (See Con #2).2. The Cons are not deal breakers. I still recommend this book. Just be prepared to be very frustrated.

This book doesn't teach you how to make paper airplanes it just has ones that you can tear out and fold on the lines.

The planes were great. Really colorful and jazzy, so they caught my grandson's attention. They needed more adult assistance than I thought for our six year old. Great activity for kids to do with a grownup. The book is very appropriate for older kids too. Glad I bought "Kids Paper Air Planes" too.
