4.5 starsThis entire book is printed on full-color, glossy pages, which allows the author to show many different gliders doing different things, as well as provide visual information that a black-and-white book can't. For example, this book has pictures to give names to several of the major color variations of gliders, what is meant by the "bald spot" on an intact male's head, the color of healthy sugar glider gums, and even a picture of a super-pink, IP (in-pouch) baby joey.The overall book is very positive while keeping the information real, though I believe the "other pets" recommendation (or rather, lack thereof) will change every time you talk to someone else. I wish the safe and harmful foods would have been listed in an easy-to-reference bulleted list instead of scattered throughout paragraphs in the food chapter, but the lack of that list wasn't enough to dock a full star.
I have more than 1 books about sugar gliders, this is the better one compare to others, information is more accurate, but still not enough. Basically I don't need a book to learn about Sugar Gliders and how to take care Sugar Gliders, but good to keep one on hand and this is good for kids to read too.
Sugar Gliders by David E. Boruchowitz is a quick and easy to read overview of owning sugar gliders. It covers what makes gliders a great pet, what everyday life with gliders is like, feeding them, keeping them (and their cage) neat, health, and behavior. Having just adopted a pair of sugar gliders, I’ve done tons of research, so most of what was covered in the book I already knew. It is always nice to have confirmation that I’m on the right track, though, so I am glad I read it. It didn’t go much into the very important how to’s of bonding, though, so that is a drawback to the book. I highly recommend this book as a place to start for anyone thinking of adopted (at least two) sugar gliders.
Good book with excellent pictures. The writing is a little ponderous, but the material is needed so wade on though.
It gave me the basic information needed for sugar glider care. I would recommended to any new sugar glider owners.
