A great, quick, and easy read! I really enjoyed the piece about learning to grieve. I feel learning to grieve is often a piece growing up that a lot of people don't get to do and experience properly. Also, I appreciate that the author acknowledges the fact that there is no one specific way to get over a pet loss. People experience and feel differently, some take longer than others, and I like that this book covers that. I would recommend this book for everyone.
Nothing earth shatteringly new for a former psych grad student, but it was very comforting nonetheless. Very good thoughts on how to remember your pet. I made a small wreath with my cat's photo and hung it on the front door. I lost my cat,Delenn, who would have been 20 in January, on Dec. 2. We have 2 other cats and a dog, but Delenn was all mine and very special. She met me every morning at the foot of the stairs,and it still surprises me not to see her there.
This is a must-read for anyone with pets or anyone who has recently had a pet pass away. People often struggle to make sense of loss, searching for answers and ways to live on after such a traumatic episode. This book acknowledges the challenges, and provides strategies for thinking and acting in order to overcome them. Avery does a great job emphasizing and affirming positive steps toward healing, which I appreciated. Read this book. You won't regret it!
