Bandit: The Heart-Warming True Story Of One Dog's Rescue From Death Row

Employing a unique combination of psychology, philosophy, sociology, and dog training theory, Vicki Hearne recounts her experiences with Bandit, a dog deemed so dangerous that the state of Connecticut condemned him to death. Hearne rescued Bandit and was soon entrenched in a legal battle that extended well beyond his case as she fought to prove that no dog is inherently vicious. She quickly discovered the factors that contributed to Bandit's behavior and set about releasing the essentially "good dog" that lay within.

This book was more the philosophy & opinions of the author than a "Heartwarming True Story of One Dog's Rescue from Death Row". Between a few thought provoking points on the nature of dogs & their relationships with humans, were disparaging opinions of HSUS, rescue groups, police, etc. At times, a sprinkling of thinly veiled accusations of wrong doing are included. This reader was disappointed to be left with the opinion Bandit's rescue from death row had more to do with the author proving herself right and providing another forum for her philosophies than it did with saving Bandit's life.

while I love reading stories about dog rescues.. this one is kind of boring. unfortunately. I put it down unfinished and read three others. If I run out of something to read, I'll think about picking up where I left off, maybe.

I don't know if it's a good story or not because I couldn't keep up with the way she writes. The author seems to write as she thinks, and it was just hard to make sense of it all. I may pick it up to try again another time, but it was like reading a kaleidascope. I am disappointed though because I'd really like to know Bandit's story.

This is one of my valuable books. Good read, point of view and advice. Get one it will help you understand about dog in death row
