"Fundamentals of Search and Rescue" is an inclusive guide for persons new to or involved in Search and Rescue (SAR). The layout of this book is phenomenal and extremely well categorized so that whether it is used for reference to specific information or read as a whole for a training program, you are bound to find what you need.My interest in SAR centers around the training of service dogs, a highly vital resource for many types of SAR. After reading this book, I realized how complex the human side can be in terms of training and procedure. While canines are referenced in the text, the purpose of this guide is tailored to the needs of SAR workers and volunteers. I believe this book provides valuable information to non-SAR individuals as well, but if you fall into this category I would warn that you likely no not need to purchase the entire book; the majority of the information can be easily found through search engines on a topic-by-topic basis. I recommend purchasing the whole text if you plan to become involved in the SAR field or just prefer to have all of the information on hand.I have included the chapter titles in order to provide an overview of the topics addressed in the text (each heading named here is also further divide into more specific subtitles in the book):iii.
