The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, or MUTCD defines the standards used by road managers nationwide to install and maintain traffic control devices on all public streets, highways, bikeways, and private roads open to public traffic. The MUTCD is published by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) under 23 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 655, Subpart F. The MUTCD, which has been administered by the FHWA since 1971, is a compilation of national standards for all traffic control devices, including road markings, highway signs, and traffic signals. It is updated periodically to accommodate the nation's changing transportation needs and address new safety technologies, traffic control tools and traffic management techniques. On May 14, 2012 final rules adopting Revisions 1 and 2 of the 2009, MUTCD were published in the Federal Register with an effective date of June 13, 2012. While this is the current edition of the MUTCD (as of April 2015), it is not a color copy. Obviously the colors of the signs are incredibly important and the black and white pictures make this only a somewhat helpful resource. Recommend going elsewhere...
Must have for transportation afternoon PE exam. BUT why oh why does it not have an index!!! The older version did but this one doesn't! it makes no sense to me and makes finding something specific much harder than it should be!
Must have for PE Exam. A question came for April 2015 exam right from the manual.For future test takers, take the time to highlight numbers and %s as desibed in the manul during your prepartion.The question can be a one liner reference between two three paragraphs.It requires more effort than just tabbing the section!
It is black and white with no color. It is a copy of the original.
This book was not in color and should be. I was dissappointed when I opened it to find out none of the street signs were in color. No where in the description did it say it wasn't in color.
