I seem to get stuck reading this “Show Jumping Dreams” series by Claire Svendsen . Stuck in the sense that they are like candy and they leave a taste for more or mostly, for what happens next. They are really geared for a younger audience than myself and I often feel like I want to pop the characters “upside the head” occasionally , or make that, most of the time but then most of them are fairly young, under 18. The author has a tendency to repeat the obvious more than I like but again, age related I figure. She does, however, get the horse accouterments correctly. All the right verbiage of horses and show language which I do appreciate. What I am not crazy about is the fact that these are like tiny installments. I mean $3.00 ( rounded out) for 135 pages? Really? Would rather spend a bit more for a normal size book. “Bittersweet Farm” for instance is usually over 235 pages and only a buck more but made for a slightly older reader and more character development. Obviously what our author does, works as here I am talking about it and still wanting to see what happens next in the life of Emily Dickenson and all her horses and friends. To see why someone has stolen (maybe) Wizard. Just wish they were a bit longer.
I liked it ok, but I am one who does NOT like a no ending book. I prefer a ending. Leaving us hanging with out any resolution I guess is what this series does. It is the first time I have read any of her books an I am sure there is a method as they say to her madness., as now I will have to be on the look out for what happened to Wizard!
What a tease! Just getting I to the book, the horse show, and then the clunker, at the end! Kind of makes me mad, that in order to find out what happens, I need to buy the next book, in the series! Oh, well! I could be spending my money on crack cocaine, which is similar to being a horse addict!
Again I can't wait for the next book I LOVE this series and I'm always impatiently waiting for the next one to come
