LEAD CHANGE is a nice, clean horse story about real kids in real situations. I would recommend it to boys and girls who are already riders or just wish they were. I enjoyed it myself and would have enjoyed it as a kid; I look forward to other books in the series as a pleasant diversion.
I'm enjoying Ms. Svendsen's Show Jumping Dreams series. While they would certainly appeal to tweens&teens, as an older woman I'm enjoying them! Maybe I'm reliving my early years of my horses&showing. I also haven't seen one faux pas of the details about horses & showing! (Sadly there are many books about horses where the author is clueless to horses and showing!) Anyone who loves horses will enjoy these books!
I think that the author didn't try very hard with this installment. The toing and froing in Emily's mind about the accident even after finding that things were working out for the horse judt irritated me. There just didn't seem any "meat" in the story. We did get a "new" pony for Faith and the new dog seems to be settling in well.I do often wonder why her Dad doesn't step up and take control of his ex wife who has pretty much messed their lives up. This seems very short and it only took me three hours to read the whole thing. The big last chapter was a good lead in for the next installment but I do hope there is more depth in the next one.
I've had a similar accident as Emily, my horse didn't fall and break his leg, but he dumped me and took off and almost broke his leg when the reins came over his head and he stepped on them, thank god they snapped and he was't hurt, I didn't ride for a week and didn't compete for two years after that.
Love this series. Even as a young adult they are a good read. Great for many ages to read!!!
I love this series. Each one is good
