This is an OK read for a garden novice, it is easy to read and has decent drawings for illustrations. It is also dated (26 years old) which is particularly noticeable in the sections about mulches, fertilizers and pesticides. There is not enough information for backyard growers with limited space, and if you prefer to practice integrated pest management or organic gardening, you will not find a lot of information or encouragement here.After more than a quarter of a century, this booklet ought to be revised.
This is a most complete and easy to understand manual on how to grow blueberries. It is uncomplicated and the illustrations are easy to follow. Best I have found.
Like the rest of the Storey bulletins I have acquired, this one is very clear and concise. All of them have been around 30 pages but are a wealth of useable information. If you plan to start a blueberry farming business you really need more information than provided here but if like me you are planting a few blueberry bushes around the yard this is the book for you.
These Storey Publications information pamphlets are excellent and cover a very, very wide range of subjects from home wine making, produce preserving, growing and using fruits, vegetables and herbs, building various structures and useful items, and many, many other subjects.
The information was very basic and not complete. It's OK for the novice blueberry grower but if you have been growing blueberries this book won't be terribly useful.
It's not a very large book but it is packed with very useful information. My husband says he "got more information out of this little book than he got out of the big technical books on blueberries". It is very useful for the everyday gardener.
Booklet in great condition. Very informational and easy to understand. Have read it from cover to cover several times. Will definitely use the information in caring for established blueberry plants and the new ones we plan to plant soon.
I normally give high praise to any of the Storey Guides, as they are one of the series of books and bulletins a lot of farmers rely on. I am in the process of planning to install blueberries on my own farm and purchased this bulletin as part of my research. The information was so basic and not as thorough as information I looked up on line through websites like Virginia Tech. It is inexpensive and gives good basic info, but the same info can be attained on-line.
