This is a must have book for roof framing. The drawings and principles are layed out very well and as cleanly as you can for a book like this. It covers just about every roof framing situation you will likely encounter, and the principles and techniques will help you solve the ones that aren't covered.If you are serious about learning to cut and stack roofs, then buy this book. Or if you are like me, buy a few and give them to your framers.
Its well worth the price for this book, I covers everything you want to know in roof framing, nothing you can find in other roof framing books.Every picture detail has the math on the same page so you dont have to flip pages and flip back and get confussed,I like it.
This is a great book for the beginner, the expert or anyone in between. For the beginner it explains the basics very well so as you go on you have something to build off of. If you already have a good knowledge of framing then this book is great to brush up with, and expands on a lot on more difficult aspects of roof framing as well.
It is a great book. I used it for building a covered porch and found it indispensable.
Well when i got the book i was amazed on the amount of diffrent Roof Framing situations that are in it . Stuff in this book not to many people know how to do. Even if i just use the book once to refer to the 20 i spent on it was worth it ... If you are Into cutting rafters and find the Common Gables and Hips fun to do then you would love this ....
Straight forward and to the point. The writer is a framer and he is easy to follow. complicated topics are patiently explained with clear diagrams and pictures. I am on my first reading, but I have already used this as a reference on the job. After reading this will be a great reference to keep in the truck.
I dont' do a lot of roof framing, but when I have a project with special considerations like hips and valleys, I need a little help. This book is great for those times. You need to be good at understanding angles as roof framing is where framing get complex. If roof framing is you thing, this is one of the best texts on the market today. Holliday really knows what he is talking about. It is also nice that he incorporated the use of a construction calculator for those a little more math challenged.
Great source of information for a custom build or difficult addition. Roof stacking is nearly a lost art with all the pre-fab truss houses now being built. Will is a master at his trade!
