This is a series of manuals developed and sold by the Office of Water Programs, Cal State Sacramento. They cover wastewater treatment, fresh water treatment, wastewater collection systems and freshwater collection systems. Every chapter has lengthy questions, and the object of the series is for men and women working in the industry, or hoping to, to pass exams and achieve certification of varying levels of operator level. For example, when I worked in the Bureau of Sanitation for the City of Los Angeles, the wastewater treatment operators were entry level one to level five, the highest. There were not many level fives.Orange County and other government agencies have similar requirements.The manuals allow the student to advance at his/her own pace. I believe Certification requires the payment of fees and a sitdown proctored exam.
