Save your money. I will summarize. Use drip irrigation, plant in season, and choose drought resistant varieties. The end. Other than some gratuitous mention of Native Americans' waffle gardens, the effect of wind, the use of enclosed earth boxes or shade cloth, this book states that hand watering and moving hoses "gets old". Garden design includes raised beds and reminding you to include space for your irrigation system. I will look elsewhere for radical techniques or even examination of other countries and people that are successfully farming in desert and drought.

I live in a desert climate where it is very hard to grow vegetables. We really need to get smart to get the most out of our short growing seasons. I found this book to be a good resource.

This is a great book covers microclimates high/low desert, growing methods, historic and new and growing seasons which are very different in a desert application.
