Very nice picture book. Not much info on greenhouse growing but good info on greenhouses of ten years ago. The newer greenhouse have been left out. So much has changed in the last few years, double poly roofs, hydroponics, heating under tables, steal construction, shading, cross ventilation, all were left out of this new edition but nice color pictures and a good beginner book. If you want a up to date greenhouse book see, Secrets to a Successful Greenhouse and Business.
Good book for those who just want basic information and principles. Descriptive literature is good, pictures are excellent, and the book is pleasantly / logically arranged. Is it the "source" on greenhouses, no. However, it is a good read and good book. I have purchased other resources (including the heavy text recommended by another reviewer) and find this book to be generally as informative as the others, particularly given its price.
This book gives great information from building the foundation to shelving. I found it a great help in choosing my greenhouse kit and what foundation to use. Anyone interested in purchasing or building their own greenhouse needs this book. I read several, this one was the best.
This book has information in it that I didn't find anywhere else. When I looked at the price of the free-standng and attached greenhouse kits, well - I practically had to be picked up off the floor. They are all expensive and my wallet just isn't that fat. If you're thinking about designing and building your own greenhouse, get this. With the help of this book (and some others - foundation, framing - that I bought through ), I was able to save myself thousands of dollars and build an attached greenhouse that gets tons of compliments. And, if you're into orchids, Ortho's Complete Guide to Orchids is the best for determining temperatures & light requirements & more things to consider when designing an orchid greenhouse.
It had a lot of information, especially for a first time greenhouse gardener. I liked the way it covered from constructing, all the way to suggestions for thermometers, etc., as well as what you can grow during any season.
This book is great for people looking to either build or purchase a greenhouse. With recommendations about the location, to different types of greenhouses, this is a perfect reference book!
Tons of information in this book. My husband liked the fact that there are detailed instructions on how to construct the greenhouses. If you know you want to build a greenhouse, but don't know where to start, this book is a perfect tool.
This book really got us going in our plans to start greenhousing. We live in NE Washington, and really need to get a head start on our garden plants; and this book seems to include everything we need to know to eliminate as much "trial and error" learing as possible.
