Like all of her books for 18" dolls, this book contains many great patterns along with easy to understand, well written directions. Great pictures let you see the finished as reference in addition to the directions.
Joan Hinds has now done for 15" baby dolls what she did for 18" dolls. This book has many possibilities for baby doll wardrobes. Patterns are full sized and sewing directions are clear. I'm enjoying using this book.
This is an OUTSTANDING book! I just love it!!!!!!!!! I keep checking it out of the library because it is notavailable to purchase any longer--unless you want to pay a fortune. DO NOT BUY without the patterns!!!! it should NOT be sold without the patterns! The book is useless without them! The instructions are fabulous and the work is outstanding! She gives a chart so you know which size pattern to use and they range from small to x-large. There is a great variety! I soooo wish they would publish more of these! If you can find it with thepatterns, snatch it right up! If not, you might find it a waste of your money!!!!!!!!!
Granddaughters with Bitty Baby and the Bitty Twins made this book a real find. Most patterns don't relly fit the dolls. These are quite good, although measuring the legs and arms as well as other body parts is a very good idea. Recommend tracing pattern pieces onto the plastic used for quilt templates or something like that if you are going to make many outfits. Instructions are adequate for sewers. Not for beginners.
Was looking for a book of patterns to make clothing for the 15 inch Bitty Baby dolls. I had recently purchased a Joan Hinds book for 18 inch dolls (American Girl) and was so pleased with it. Probably about 25 different patterns, all easy to cut and great, clear stitching instructions with great drawings as well as photos. I hoped this book would be similar. It was not. First, it has patterns for several sizes of baby doll, which sounds good at the outset -- until you have to find pattern piece #31 in the "medium" size, and find that it is in the MIDDLE of a huge tissue sheet with all "large" size pieces. This happened over and over when I was cutting the patterns out, almost leading me to ditch the book. There also are not many different patterns. There are "variations," in which the same basic dress is embellished with different machine embroidery patterns, etc. As I do not own an embroidery machine, this was useless to me. Seemed to be missing some basics too, like sunsuits, rompers, buntings. All in all, I did not think it was worth the price and would not recommend it.
The book and patterns arrived in perfect condition from the seller, in a timely manner. The book did have the envelope with all the patterns included, in multiple sizes, also good. There were so many pieces, I find I had to separate them from each other and file in plastic sleeves, to make accessing them easier. The instructions were clear and nicely supported by pictures. The variety and style of patterns was a bit disappointing, in that they are very old fashioned. There were no modern leggings, short skirts, hoodies, bomber jackets, etc,. Just little babyish dresses and romper suits. Most little girls these days want the funky clothes you see in the stores, for their dolls. The book will be good as a base, especially if you are experienced at sewing and crafts and can improvise, which I will, but, overall, pretty dull patterns.
It has lots of patterns but is meant for someone that sews. I suggest that the pattern pieces all be cut out and matched together with the small, medium and large pattern piece for each pattern number put into a separate numbered plastic sleeve in a 3 ring binder so they are easy to find and use. It will make it easier if you are planning on making several of the outfits or different sizes for different size dolls.I think I will get lots of use out of the book.
great book with lots of cute patterns for 15 and 18 inch dolls. I have made many of these clothes and they are easy to make. Joan really corners the market on making these size doll clothes. I haven't found anyone that does it better.
