Based on all the positive reviews, I had high hopes for this book. I realized it was very short, but I expected it would be chocked full of code examples to get me up and running quickly so that I could have “programming success in a day.” But, I have to say that I was sorely disappointed. A good part of the book is fluff, and there is very little code included. There are grammatical and spelling errors throughout, which one could probably live with if the content made up for it, but it doesn’t.Even more egregious, what little code there is sometimes has faulty explanations to go with it. For example, at the end of Chapter 6, there is a short piece of code, followed by an explanation. The book talks about the imagePath, the Choice element, and the Request[“Choice”] line in the code. Except, none of these items are in the code at all! The next chapter continues by saying, “in the last chapter, you had these lines…”, but again, the referenced lines of code do not exist in the code sample referenced. Inexcusably shoddy work. This book has all of the earmarks of being something that the author threw together and self-published with an eye toward making a quick buck for little effort. Save your money, this book will not help you find programming success in a day, or ever.
This book is terrible. If I hadn't received it as a gift, I would absolutely be returning it. It is awful. I am an experienced developer trying to help a friend learn, and this book is truly awful. I can't believe it has so many positive marks--this author must have called in a lot of favors.Save your money!!!!!
Seemed to have multiple spelling and grammar errors on every single page. Half of the book talks about server config. It hardly goes over code at all. I borrowed this book and I am very glad I did not waste my money on it.
I was blown away with the information contained here in this ebook, I have a vast wealth of key detailed step by step procedures on how to program properly ASP. I've delved into Java and Python a few times before but this one was quite different in different terms if you've never been much into the programming scene before. But that didn't stop my determination and will power to learn.
I got this book on a discounted price promotion, This book is quite practical because so easily explained and gives you the basic tools for programming, so it is great for people like me who does not have much experience with ASP.NET, has enough sample code and recommend it.
I was completely new to programming, and this guide helped me out a lot! It helped me doing the basics of the entire programming subject and I'm glad that I could find such a good guide for just a dollar! I truly recommend this guide if you are looking to learn how to program quick and cheap.
This book is extremely interesting for people who want to learn programming on ASP. I'm new at this, and I can say the book was very useful. It has examples and tutorials that teaches you step by step how to program. I would recommend the book to everyone who is involved in the programming/technological world.
Glad I was able to look at this with my Kindle Unlimited acct as I would be really upset if I actually paid for this.Half the (few) things covered by the author dealt with html code, not asp.net. The asp.net examples provided were very incomplete and often had code examples that did not sync with the specific examples that the author was discussing. The reading records from an Excel file is a good example. Author is discussing pulling from an Excel/.csv file, but the code references a .txt file.... maybe somewhat easy to figure out how to modify, but as an entry level book the author should be handholding. Another section references accessing data from a database, but does not go into detail on the necessary connection string and how to build it (entry level book should cover all of the necessary steps, not just the parts that are in the client facing webpage), no code behind, and not web.config instructions.Someone looking for entry level books for asp.net should definitely look elsewhere.
