The 18 animal patterns in this book are so wonderful it is hard to choose favorites - but, I have to say the flamingo, rhinoceros and goat are my favorites. There are many unusual animals that do not make frequent appearances in craft / soft sculpture books. This book has clear, attractive photos of the finished projects shown from several different angles and in some cases color variations. The animals are meant to be made with felt and have exposed stitching.I found the author's instructions clearly written and easy to follow. There are detailed photographs of each step of the construction process and the demo piece in the photos is sewn together with different contrasting colors of thread to help show the assembly. There are also small pink colored text windows beside the photo instructions with additional helpful notes such as "Your animal's facial expression will change depending upon the position of the eyes". Besides the detailed written instructions there is a material list, cutting instructions, a diagram with notes about the finished project and a photo showing a detail of the finished project. The patterns are not part of the book itself, but on a large sheet of lightweight paper loosely attached in the back of the book. The templates are full sized and meant to be photocopied for use. I like to trace these kinds of patterns onto light quilter's plastic with a permanent marker for transferring onto fabric. All of the animals (except the rhino) have a description on the pattern - such as "body front" or "chest" and this description appears in bold black letters when it appears in the construction instructions. (The rhino has parts listed alphabetically - A,B,C because of many pieces and mysterious body parts).
