Most practical, no-nonsense gardening book for our challenging short season.Not for the career gardener, but is great for those of us who want to have asuccessful garden that looks good and doesn't require a phd. and full-time assistantto take care of it.
Gardening is a true passion for me and if I'm not out enjoying/working in my gardens, I'm usually trying to learn as much as I can through books, magazines or the internet. This book is a treasure! Whether you're a relatively new gardener or an experienced one the information is extensive and yet practical and concise because it's organized into chapters that make quick references a snap. I've had the good fortune to hear Kerry speak at symposiums and lectures(which,by the way are always full); and I've never walked away from one of these without being inspired and learning something that I could apply to my own garden. Having this book is like attending a dozen lectures and it's a joy to read. Trust me you will not be dissappointed.
This book is amazing! It has all the information you need in one place. The author also has a rather amusing voice which adds to the down to earth nature of this book. A must have for the gardener in any zone!
Finally a book for the hardy gardeners for the Northeast! Great advice for those hard spots that everybody has strugled with. Practical, honest and trustworthy tips for just about any gardening conumdrum. Kerry had cover everything -light,site,soil conditions,shrubs,bulbs,annuals,biennials,foliage,design & care, pest control and money saving tips; all with a great sense of humor that a true gardener must have to maintain sanity. This is a must have for every gardener in zones 3,4 & 5!
A truly down to earth, "lay it on the line" book. The language she used is right up my alley and I chuckled each time I've read some pages.. I've been fortunate to see the author's gardens and it's clearly evident she lives by the message she conveys in her book.
