This is one of the most important book in the area of infrastructure asset management available in the market. If you are a civil engineer or interested in public infrastructure asset management, this is a must to read book.
One of the worst text books I've ever had to read and incredibly expensive for what it was. I was in a facility-flavored asset management course. The authors of this book clearly have a background heavily into transportation."Engineering Systems: Meeting Human Needs in a Complex Technological World" by Oliver de Weck is a far better book on the subject.
The second edition of infrastructure management has some very useful updates. The authors have taken a lot of effort to make necessary changes to update to the current times. I felt the examples of latest events incorporated are of biggest help in understanding the concepts better. Also, the effort made to cover the global perspective (including developed, developing and under developed nations) so it can be adapted and understood better is also noteworthy.Overall, the much awaited new version does not disappoint.
With our aging infrastructures, current shrinking resource, the theme everywhere of doing more with less, this book is a great start to look at ways to manage any assets to address challenges some industries are faced with. The authors have done a great job to provide up to date step by step on how to manage your assets and how to find a suitable solution to save time and money. I highly recommend this book and intend to use it as textbook for my next class.
As a researcher, every part of the book is relevant to my need. But must amazing part of the book is how it is structured like PhD thesis. I am really happy to own the book.
