Lots of good content, but lousy copy editing.
I enjoy memoirs and non fiction history and have always had a deep fascination with the early days of movie making. Reading Mr. Sheridan's book took me back to a time when the old west really wasn't that old. When necessity was not only the mother of invention, but also the culmination of imagination by the likes of Tesla, Edison, and others who thought outside the box and spurred on the start of the 20th century.As I read on, the old 50's song by Teresa Brewer played in my head, Put Another Nickel In...that easily I was transported in time. So many things I didn't know, and the antidotes Mr. Sheridan shared in this memoir (loved the section about the Ice Capades, too) added so much to the book. A truly fascinating study of an incredible personal history.
This book is full of good history and anecdotes, especially about the Harris family, the Ice Capades, and early movie history in Pittsburgh. It's self-published, and the copy editing is non-existent -- bad grammar, bad spelling, gaps in content, and on and on and on. But if that stuff doesn't bother you, it provides a very interesting view into some interesting and unusual topics.
A wonderful history of an interesting family that received little recognition for their achievements.And an attempt by others to take credit for the Harris Family's history
