I love the ideas and inspiration this book offered. I buy a lot of books about bookmaking and this was a totally new technique than I've seen before.The only fault I could find was some of the directions were unclear. Could have used more step by step instruction on the construction, but I figured it out! I think part of the trouble is that this book was not written in English as a first language. I believe that Arnie and Carlos are from Sweden.Overall I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys journaling and bookmaking. Arne and Carlos never disappoint. This book explains how to make your idea books and it gives you samples and themes for you to choose from. This book explains one way to bind your book and how to use it, it is not a bookbinding book. It shows you the kind of idea books (or visual journals) that you could make. I really liked it and it sparked my creativity
Interesting concept. I enjoy Arne and Carlos's books because I find they are creative and joyful. They seem to appreciate the beauty in everyday objects and have a sense of how important and applicable to modern times are the traditions of old.
I'd expected inspiration and techniques to guide the reader in devising his own creations. This book is mostly instruction in reproducing the authors' own designs, which are interesting and original. It should be regarded as a manual for replicating the authors' works.
