I am a bit skeptical of how many German recipes are truly included in this cookbook. You will find recipes such as:Vegetable Soup (there are German vegetable soups)Beer Cheese Soup (most likely German)Pumpkin Soup (a modern German soup as pumpkin is native of North America not Germany)Lentil Soup (German)Cold Gazpacho Soup (probably German)Wedding Soup (Italian)You will not find such German classics as German Onion Soup, Cream of Mushroom Soup, or German Lazy Day Soup. I was surprised to find no recipes for sausage-based soups. Perhaps I missed the recipe (s).Overall, this is a good starter cookbook filled with some yummy soup recipes that are a bit scant on the German recipes.There is an active table of contents making navigation easy.Recommend with caveats given.
It's a little challenging to give this more than three stars, considering that one recipe is for gazpacho (and the author notes that it comes from Spain) and another is for Italian wedding soup. Good thing it was free.
Love soup, but most of the recipes were quite involved. Most of the time I want to throw some veggies together and enjoy.
