Bought this book for my Grandson who wanted to learn to whittle. So far he has whittled the oak tree in the front yard into an 8' grizzly bear(just kidding). He actually has whittled a large stick into a small stick with no loss of blood. I look forward to seeing some of his other projects in the near future.
I gave my 12-year-old daughter this book for Christmas. She loves the projects, but wishes there was a little more detail on whittling techniques, and more detail in general. But on the whole she is very happy with this book!
I'm in this OCD mode of getting info on all types of carving. I can't seem to have enough info. This was a fun beginner mode book with sweet little doodads that you can carve on the fly or at a campfire. Or wherever you can get away with leaving wood chips all around your seat. Happy carving
A very good book. Lots of detail and good pictures. Really helpful. I would highly recommend for the whittler getting started.
I purchased this book to give to my brother for Christmas along with a nice Whittling Knife. My brother is in college and started to take up whittling. I thought this book looked like it had lots of fun little projects for him to start with in his free time. However many of these projects require extra tools like a drill or were just so simple that it is almost childish. I was a little disappointed but for 10 bucks I guess its not a total waste.
the product came well packaged and in the time it was said to come. For those who would like to work with wood this book is simple and well understandable. Making things out of a natural medium should give this guide a go. I have made the boat, the bowling pins and the fences with these explanations. Imagine if someone with no talent in such things can do it, a little passion can go along way.
The book is very easy to read and follow. The projects are easy and fun to do.A book for all whittlers.
I'm tempted to write, "see my other review" of a similar title.This is a good book with some really fun ideas.But is just a collection of whittling ideas, so nothing really profound. Not like it is a hard bound collector's addition or anything.I recommend it for what this book is, some fun ideas for someone getting started in turning bits of wood into things.
