Orrin Devinsky is one of the top experts in pediatric epilepsy. I know because I have researched this topic to death. I know more about pediatric epilepsy than do most residents in training in pediatric hospitals. This point is verified to me each time I have to take my child to the ER. I have listened to over 50 webinars on the subject and my child has been seen in four major hospital systems for severe intractable epilepsy. If your child has epilepsy or was just diagnosed with epilepsy, this is the book for you. Epilepsy is one of the worst researched diseases around. Hardly any research dollars are targeted for this neurological disorder. It is hard to get quality care for your child and you have to be on your toes to tell some doctor no when he wants to put your child on his sixth anti-seizure medication simultaneously! Been there, done that. This book explains the types of epilepsy, medications and their side effects (and there are LOTS of side effects), and non-pharmacological therapies like Vagal Nerve Stimulator and the Ketogenic Diet.
