Children With Seizures: A Guide For Parents, Teachers, And Other Professionals (JKP Essentials)

This concise, accessible handbook for families, friends and carers of children with seizures provides all the information they need to approach seizures from a position of strength. Part 1 discusses types and causes of seizures, and what to do during a seizure. The medical concepts and technical terminology, as well as the available tests and treatments, including anticonvulsant medication, are clearly explained. The author also addresses some of the emotional and social issues that may arise, and there are chapters for kids and teens to read themselves or with their parents. Part 2 covers some of the most common epilepsy syndromes in more detail. Further reading and useful contacts are also provided. This reassuring, informal, and upbeat book will reinforce and help clarify the discussion with the child's treating medical professional.

This is the first book I have purchased to read about seizures. It is a very basic and informative look at epilepsy and seizure disorders. Some of the terms are confusing, but the book itself is a very easy read. I was looking to understand more about my daughter's disorder (epilepsy) and the medication treatments available to us and also looking for something that would help my daughter's teacher better understand her disorder. The book was helpful in listing all current treatment options. I would recommend this book for someone who is looking for something very basic and as a reference guide.

For a mother with a child who has seizures I purchased this book after purchasing another one, although it is informational it has too many references to get by and not very reader friendly. Recommend, Maybe.

Children with Seizures is written in simple language, and is written in a way that is encouraging for those suffering from epilepsy and those who are caring for children with epilepsy. I would suggest this for anyone seeking a basic understanding of epilepsy.

this book is a fine introduction to all those dealing with childerns with seizures. it tackles the problem from all different aspects even the emotional and economic side. It addresses the reader in a friendly and intamate way.I read it from cover to cover in one session; a light and enriching meal:)
