I was able to purchase the first three volumes of this 3rd edition 5 volume set, which is only a few years old, for a fraction of their original price.These three are of particular interest to me, as a professional optical designer. Volumes 4 and 5 are more esoteric, and in any event, have not yet showed up on the used book offerings.Sponsored by the Optical Society of America, each volume contains some two dozen chapters by experts in each subject.Vol. 1: Geometrical and Physical Optics, Polarized Light, Components and Instruments.Vol. 2: Design, Fabrication and Testing; sources and detectors, Radiometry and Photometry.Vol. 3: Vision and Vision Optics.
