The original issue of Month By Month doesn't have the glossy pages, color photo's or planting zone maps of the new Revised Version but I am glad I bought the Original Version. It may not be available much longer.Only the new Revised version is now available locally in retail book and home improvement stores but reading the descriptions I notices the Original version is slightly bigger and has 80 more pages. After receiving the Original version in the mail I compared the two versions. The text is nearly identical but spread out with more white space and indexing in the Original version. All in all the original version seems easier to read with matte pages and spread format. The Revised version has removed the chapter on houseplants, combined warm season and cool season grasses into one chapter and removed plant information tables for individual varieties for each chapter. These tables are for annuals, perennials, roses, bulbs, vegetables, houseplants, lawn grasses, shrubs, trees, vines, ground covers and aquatic plants. They contain much useful information such as common and botanical names, planting times, hardiness zones, light requirements, bloom season and relevant comments. Although the variety lists are limited they cover the most common plants and are a good general reference.

I wanted my family member to get the information that she needed for continuing her gardening in a new and different climate.According to her, this book was a smart selection and filled with details that will help her make the best of the climate and soil.

I moved from Colorado in 2015 to NC and found my experience out west was doing me no good for growing my plants and flowers in the moist, warm and fertile climate of NC. I was unfamiliar with the seasons and the problems brought with each change of weather. The bugs and diseases were foreign to me as well. Every month brought new surprises that I was ill equipped to deal with. I turned to books to help me out and this one was perfect.!!! Don't be afraid to buy used. Lots of fun and info for very little price.

This guide is not so much about the facts about the plants themselves as what to do when in order to maintain your garden. Each month has a "to do" list that helps you organize maintaining your garden. Excellent!

Love the helpful monthly tips and schedule for planting, pruning, etc. Also, as I am new to the East Coast and the Carolinas, I wanted to learn what grows best here and when to plant. This book will be a great help.

This book taught me lots I needed to know about gardening year round. IMO, you can't go wrong, and I am happy with the purchase.
