I am not a contractor, but I am completely remodeling three bathrooms in my home. To help with that, I purchased four different books on the subjects. Each provides some good information, but this one is the most comprehensive, and it doesn't leave out steps which the others occasionally do. As a novice, I don't get to a certain point and get stumped on what to do next because this book guides you all the way. Good illustrations also.
I read this book before remodeling my bathroom. It is very helpful and informative. I understood better what to expect before I hired a contractor. It helped me discuss intelligently the work that would be done. I would highly recommend this book whether you will do the job yourself, or give it to a contractor.
i have most of the series of these Black and Decker books, and i love them, i am a do it yourselfer and they go into detail on how to repair or replace things in the house, and they are pictures instead of drawings. i had a bunch of older ones and i am updating them to newer ones. great books..
This is more like a greatest hits book. It doesn't go about how to plan and build certain type of bathrooms. It' shows you things like "this is what this bathroom" looks like. Like an idea type book. It really is a bit of a rip-off book as it just takes photos and concepts from some of their other (and my opinion, better books).
This is a good book not to build things from scratch but to get good points to reference along the way during the process. When I owned my house I would use this occasionally for reference and it is worth the price.
I am mechanically inclined but i found this book goes into great depth for me. I feel as though i could follow this book alone and put in a bathroom whenever i am done. I especially appreciate the section that focuses on the custom showers which is what i aspire to put in my master bedroom downstairs some day. Thank you black and decker, i will be checking into your other books.
If you are looking for a basic bathroom remodeling guide, this will work. But don't expect it to help you repair a busted pipe. There are some nice inspiration pictures, and it does cover a range of options for new bathrooms.Overall, it's a nice addition to the home improvement shelf. Though, if you need a repair manual, pass on this book for now.
If you're doing new construction where everything is perfect, this is a decent guide. Some steps should be shown in pictures that are just described minimally. If you're doing any renovation, this book is not that helpful.
