This is so much better than I expected. The myriad stories from different people in this "cookbook" give an inside picture of Russia that you can't get from the usual memoir. Very entertaining; can't put it down. There are plenty of recipes, also!
I enjoyed this book and its stories and recipes. I have tried several of the recipes, for example the Bean and Barley soup and the mandel bread, and they were very good. The stories made me laugh and cry.
