The book is very good in explaining techniques. The figures are really funny. They are a bit demanding for a novice. Took me several hours to produce one, but that's part of the fun. Wish there were a few more pictures of each of the figures, as opposed to just the first one.
After checking t his out from the library I enjoyed it so much that I wanted my own copy. I love the projects & really like Mike Shipley's instructions.
I like the series of photos of the finished pieces. All the angles are covered and it takes out a lot of guesswork about the carving.
Very informative on this subject. Clearly explain, good patterns. Really helpful for both beginning and experience d carvers.
These books are a "must" for amateur whittlers
good book. he carves out of basswood which is hard to find. also the wood is 2 1/2 inches thick which means you will probably have to glue a couple of peace's together. good color photo's and good patterns. also show's how to paint your figures without the paint running. he also uses a set of carving tools.
This book was exactly what I expected when I ordered it. It is very instructional and takes you step by step through the process.
Got book quickly and it's exactly what I needed to do get more ideas about carving.
