Like many males my age, I discovered Dutch Ovens while camping as an Explorer Scout (High School age). and hadn't used one since. This book brought back many memories and a lt of recipes. If you are new to the Dutch Oven, this book will bring you up to speed on seasoning, maintaining, and cooking with it. It also has enough recipes for a years cooking. To cold to camp out?I use mine on the back porch, in a fire pit. If you grill is large enough you can set it in there. The only reason reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the lack of photos.
There are lots of books with lots of recipese out there, but this one really assumes that you really know nothing about Dutch ovens or how to cook in them (which I didn't). I *needed* a lot of hand-holding, and the fact that these recipes even tell me how many charcoal briquets to put under and on top of the oven was a BIG anxiety ease! I'm using some of these recipes to cook for other adult leaders on our next Scout Troop camp-out!

This is a wonderful cookbook. It gives me a nudge to get cooking! It is written with such an enthusiastic vibe. It is definitely going to be used both inside with my cast iron pot in the kitchen and outside at the campfire when camping. Thank you.
