This is a great guide to get started with if you are also into growing orchids like me. Advice offered is very clear and easy to follow. I really appreciate that there is an FAQ attached at the end of the book, so that I can also be awareness of things that I didn't think of before but should need to know as well. The "Simple Tricks and Ideas" offered in the end also gives me a lot of important information like the sequence of watering and fertilizing, using fan for air circulation, what I can learn from deformed flowers and etc. All in all, I believe this introductory guide can save you both time and money to help you do your homework before growing your first orchids;)
I always thought orchids were for experts with plants. Now, I can say thanks to Miranda that they really aren't as hard to take care of as I originally thought. The key is just knowing the right steps to follow. Miranda lays out everything you need to know to get started and become an expert with orchids.I really appreciate the fantastic photos that help clarify the difference between the different orchids and their different requirements. This book is perfect for anyone looking to learn more about orchid care and knowing how to not only keep them alive, but thriving!
This is a great gift for all plant lovers. I got it for my wife who's been dreaming about growing her own orchids as well as other plants, and she already got started because the book raelly makes it that easy. This "book" could more accurately be called a pamphlet as to the large size print and small size of the book itself. I felt the info inside only repeated itself and was no help for anyone wanting to grow orchids successfully.
Lots of info in here about the various popular species of orchids. The book goes in-depth about the conditions under which these orchids thrive in the wild. Then, the author describes how to mimic those conditions in your home.Really helpful visuals too!

My girlfriend LOVES orchids and now that we know how to grow them at home we are both extremely happy because we can save money and get better orchids than we could ever buy. There is something satisfying with doing things yourself and watching your orchids grow.
This book is not very well written. Besides that, it has some wrong information about Orchids. Specially, because the author does not state the orchid genus while talking about watering, light needs, humidity, etc. It tries to simplify the orchid care too much and sometimes give you wrong tips.
