This book has everything you want to know about the orchids of California. There is information on the distribution, flowering time and conservation of each orchid species. There are also short keys to each species based on flower morphology.
Excellent photos and descriptions of our lovely native terrestrial orchids, many of which grow into Oregon and Washington. I purchased this book a few years ago from Hamilton Books at a substantial discount of around $6.
