This book is an illustrated guide for typical residential circuits. The information is clearly presented. It is, however, not a comprehensive or exhaustive guide, and offers no planning (circuit layout) guidance. It is simply a "how to" guide for various types of wiring configurations. Diagrams are easy to follow.
I have purchased every Black and Decker how to book, this one maybe one of the weakest ones. Good thing is was only a little over $2 bucks. First off - Kindle does not display these books as they were meant to be seen. The print version is very well laid out - Kindle versions are not. Mainly due to the size of text, and the device compatibility I am sure. They just don't flow well with the illustrations.Second - The material in this book is so basic, I am pretty sure it was designed for the average guy how has never twisted a wire before. I was expecting to have a section on figuring lumens, and the best way to plan a rooms lighting requirements. This book literally only covers installing fixtures.The only positive thing I seen was a small section they included on installing outdoor landscape lighting. It was informative, yet is also included in other books they print.Overall, let this book pass you by - unless you truly have never installed a fixture before.
This book is a very good learning tool easy to understand basic household circuits and it includes some of their circuit maps. Besides the arrangement of switches and appliances along an electrical circuit differs for every project but most new wiring you install will match one or more of the maps shown.
