I have a number of books by Margaret Johnson and they're some of my favorite Irish cookbooks. Love her book about Irish tarts and crumbles and her books about using Irish beer and spirits. But this book doesn't do much for me. Perhaps predictably, there's great emphasis on meat and poultry dishes (and I'm a vegetarian). The book design is not as attractive as her other books, which were published by Chronicle. And there are mistakes in the recipes and the narrative text that detract from the book. It's not terrible, but the recipes are perhaps a bit too traditional and the book needs a better editor.

Yes, I enjoyed reading about the traditions as well as trying a few recipes. They all turned out delish! Great book to have.
