I really like how this book is written. It comes with lots of online resources for you to use and improve your coding skills. It also comes with all the examples from the book on a separate folder so you can see them and play with them.It is very clear to understand and follow through. It covers a lot of key topics that will help beginners (like me) develop coding skills.
The book explains things very well. The only reason Im giving it 2 stars instead of 5 is because I bought this book because it was the newest edition and had online supplements, however, the online supplements are still not ready to use. It is now April and I have yet to get the online access.
I wish I could give a higher rating for this book because the content is very clear and concise but it's pathetic how easily pages simply fall out while reading it. You'd think that for $100+ they'd bind the book better.
I bought this book as required reading for my course in object oriented programming. It's a good book. my only issue is that as soon as I opened it, FLAT, on a desk surface, pages started falling out. Pages 3-6 have fallen out and page 215 so far. This tells me the binding the book uses isn't strong enough to hold the book together. Pages shouldn't fall out as I flip a page. That's pretty much my only complaint with the book.
The information in the book is clear and precise. The problem is the binding. It doesn't hold well even for turning a couple of pages. I had a requested exchange and even the new one has same problem. The pages fall out. The binding won't hold after a semester. If you are planning to resell the book don't bother. You won't be able to resell a book with pages falling apart.
Need for my Java class, this book contains so many resources to assist you with obtaining a greater programming skill.
The book itself is informative and great for beginner Java programmers with a bit of programming background. The online supplement is honestly pathetic and useless. The main pet peeve I have with this book is the BINDING. I am two chapters in... and 4 pages have already fallen out. I'm NOT rough on my books at all. It's as if the manufacturer simply forgot to finish the binding process.
