I borrowed this book from the library, and did not get to look through it extensively, but I am a beginning gardener and would definitely like to add this book to my home library to have on hand as a reference. I liked the fact that the book is broken into sections by annuals, perrenials, shrubs, etc. Also, I think every plant mentioned includes a full color picture. That was a high point for me as I am just becoming familiar with many of these specimens. I wish I could give a more thorough review, but at first glance I was very happy with the content of this book.
As a transplanted Coloradoan coming from an arid climate to a much more moist environment, I found this book to be a good overview of plants, flowers, trees and shrubs that will do well in the various climate zones of Michigan. Still, I longed for much more information than provided by this book. I'll have to rely a lot on local nurseries for additional information.
This is a great book to have as a gardener/landscaper. excellent details, good selection and good pictures. I would've liked maybe even some more plants and some more detailed pictures for this to be a 5 star.
Lots of information about when, where, how, why, what to plant for the best results. Beautiful pictures and lots of tips to make the most of each season.
Lovely, colorful and informative book. Easy to read. A great aid to the amateur and more experienced gardener.
If you garden in Michigan then this book is indispensable. One of my favorites. My other copy mysteriously disappeared. H-m-m...come to think of it my sister visited that week.........
