Excellent. Highly recommended. Very well written and thorough, with plenty of diagrams and maps. The only problem was absence of actual photographs of many of the karst, salt glacier, and topographic features - though many have adequate drawings. This observation is as much compliment as critique, as the desire to see these features is piqued by excellent descriptions. I now want to go to Greenland, Africa, and the Carson Sink - to see salts! Also does a great job of treating the subject without relying upon excesses of ternary diagrams, geochemical equations, and theories of solubility and replacement dynamics that require intense study and too often neglect the complexities of the field.
An absolutely display of scholarship. The bible on evaporites. And a chapter on climate variability in the geological past that ought to be central to a debate on climate change
