I could complain that this is nothing but fluff, but it's really fur, with an occasional hairball thrown in to make it interesting. I'm not a cat person - so far. I've got two dogs I love dearly. I have found they are okay with cats though, so maybe one day ... I found Eliot's "rules" for adopting a human completely charming, and they even evinced an occasional chuckle. For example, his description of men & women together: "all skin and knobby joints - and connected first at the mouth and then entwined in ways that no self-respecting cats would attempt." This brought to mind a children's book I used to read to my kids about a little monster who told his mother he was frightened because "there's a little girl in my closet, and she's all covered with SKIN!" In all seriousness, however, the rules presented here make sense. If you want to know what is best for your cats, you could do worse than reading Bowers' book. My mother, at 90, adopted her first cat (or vice-versa) a couple years ago. They seem to have made adequate adjustments, but I'll pass CATS RULE along to her anyway.
