I am a civil engineer, dedicated to Site Design & Water Resources. My interest for this book was to counteract my few experience in the construction field, like design engineer is very important to know the need of the constructors, in order to prepare good details, specifications and construction methods. This book is a great tool, beacuse was written by Senior constructors.But, I think this book is missing a chapter dedicated to the earthwork computation.
I was given a copy of this book when I was first made a grade setter 18 years ago, and recently purchased this new revision. I have now been a foreman for the past 15 years, every time I'm handed a new set of plans for a job I go back and review the chapters that are relevant to the work I'm preparing to start. I am always a step ahead in large part do to this book! This book is next level and will help take you there, I encourage everyone on my crew who is serious about a career in general engineering to get a copy.
Great detail on cut and fill. Thorough drawings and diagrams. Geared toward the trade but a good primer for those with some experience in construction.
I have been a general engineering contractor for over 30 years and this is the best book I have found to introduce, train and sharpen skills for my employees. Written by father and son who have extensive practical field experience. If you can master the skills in this book you would be an asset to any company.
dated, incomplete, information. apprentice level or useful for office types to help introduce them to field practices. nothing here that journeymen wouldn't already know.
I gave this to my son, he was preparing for his Contractors license's. He said this book helped him so much to understand all the terms they use, and by the way, he did pass his tests!! Woop! Woo[!
My husband used this to study (and pass) his contractors licence test. He said it was helpful and will likely use it as a reference in the future.
