Great deal on this book which usually sells for more. The book is very large and informative on all garden subjects from soils to pest identification and management to fruits and vegetables. Whether or not you intend to pursue the Master Gardener program, this book is chock full of information.
I am a home gardener with a serious passion for gardening. I got the book to help guide me through vegetable gardening and landscape plant care for our Napa home. I am so impressed with the depth of knowledge provided in this book. I have already recommended this second addition to many gardening friends. It is a MUST for a gardeners bookshelf.
If you're an aspiring California gardner like me, and have a background/appreciation for the biology of plants, you'll love this book! It's a little intimidating at first, but the more you relax and just take it in small bites, you'll find it's dense full of information about plant care. It feels kind of like your highschool biology book at times and then also dives into more hands on techniques in other parts. It's a fun read full of information, not so much of a "how to garden" book. Hope this helps!
I got this book in my training to become a master gardener. It was a good deal. You get this book and several months of training for only $100. It's a great resource. Anyone who lives in California and does any amount of gardening should have a copy. It has a great deal of the information you will need to know. If you love gardening you should consider becoming a master gardener, It is a good way to back to your community.
Very dense, will use as reference, not a lot of photos or ideas for plants.
